The United States is concerned that Russia may become stronger both at the front in Ukraine and in the international arena.
US President Joe Biden has never said that the US wants Ukraine to win because there is a certain “indecisiveness” and “concern” that Russia could become stronger.
This opinion was expressed by Ben Hodges, ex-commander of the US Army in Europe, retired general and head of the Pershing Department of Strategic Studies at the Center for European Policy Analysis, in an interview with Voice of America.
“I said that because I have never heard the President or the Congress say that we want Ukraine to win. They say – we are with you as long as necessary . What does this mean? I think there is indecision. It is very difficult for me to understand why did they stop? I think there is some concern that Russia may strengthen, although they have not done this in two years,” he said.
According to him, not all politicians and officials in the United States believe that Russia can lose.
“There is some uncertainty about what will happen if Ukraine wins and Putin's regime falls. What will we do? Unfortunately, there are some people here in Washington, Berlin and other capitals who cannot even imagine that Russia could lose. What I mean is that they will have to abandon decades of their beliefs about Russia – who and what Russia is,” he explained.
Let us recall that General Godges predicted what to expect at the front in winter.
