The expert noted that this is only the third verified loss of this UAV during the entire period of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Iranian intelligence -the attack UAV Mohajer-6, which fell in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, was probably supposed to attack the territory of the Sumy region.
This opinion was expressed by military observer of the Information Resistance group Alexander Kovalenko.
The expert noted that Mohajer-6 was armed with Ghaem-5 air-to-ground missiles.
“Obviously, they were planned used for their intended purpose, but these are short-range weapons. That is why the use of the Mohajer-6 as an attack UAV was impossible, because at such distances it became a fairly easy target and was mainly used as a reconnaissance vehicle. And here with missiles… Kursk. region… It was clearly planned to be used in the Sumy direction,” wrote Kovalenko.
According to him, the reasons for the fall of the drone are still unclear.
“The fall occurred in the Kursk region. That is, on the territory of Russia, so the question arises – what led? Again Russian air defense worked on its target? Communication at the highest level?” – Kovalenko asks rhetorical questions.
The expert noted that this is only the third verified loss of this UAV during the entire period of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
“The first loss was in the Odessa area, when a Mohajer-6 accompanying the Shahed-136 group was shot down over the Black Sea. The second verified downed Mohajer-6 was shot down in June 2023 on the eastern coast of the temporarily occupied Crimean peninsula by the Russian air defense itself,” he listed.
Recall that in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, a Mohajer-6 attack and reconnaissance drone exported from Iran fell in a field outside populated areas.
