Playstation 5
Sony's next-generation set-top box will primarily be released for the US market. GamesRadar + reports the changes in the release date of the console with reference to the company's materials.
The journalists of the publication noticed that on different regional PlayStation sites, the console's release dates are presented differently. In particular, on the American site of the console it is reported that the PS5 will be released during the 2020 holiday period (Launches Holiday 2020). Previously, the same release date information was posted on the product's website in the UK, but Sony recently revised the page to say the PS5 will arrive in late 2020.
Based on this, the journalists concluded that the console will first of all appear on sale in the American market – in the USA and Canada. For other regions, the console will be available towards the end of 2020. For comparison, the Russian PlayStation 5 website reports that “Launch is scheduled for late 2020.”
According to experts, the early release of the console for North America is confirmed by a remote trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The video announced that consumers from the US and Canada will be able to purchase the next generation set-top box before the rest of the world. After a while, the trailer was removed from the PlayStation YouTube channel.
At the end of August, Sony opened pre-orders for the PS5 for US residents. The company invited users of the PS ecosystem to leave an application for the purchase of the console and get into the electronic queue, which gives the right to order the console among the first buyers. At the same time, Sony did not disclose the cost of the product, specifying that one user will be able to purchase only one console at a time.
