The production of the R-33 turbojet aircraft engine for the MiG-29 and MiG-35 aircraft is located in Russia, which Turkey may need for the Turkish Fighter X (TF-X) fighter it is creating. This was announced to Interfax by the executive director of UEC-Klimov, Alexander Vatagin.

In July 2019, Zvezda wrote that TF-X could pose a threat to Russia, as Ankara plans to receive 250 of these aircraft, while Moscow plans to purchase just 76 Su-57 fighters.
