A teenager was detained in the case of a terrorist attack in France

French police officers detained a 17-year-old teenager as part of an investigation into an attack on parishioners of the Notre-Dame-de-Nice church in Nice. This was reported by TASS with reference to local television.

The minor is suspected of being in contact with the perpetrator of the terrorist attack, Ibrahim al-Awisawi. Other information about the personality of the teenager is not provided. All other detainees in the case are in custody.

On October 29, in Nice, in the Church of Notre-Dame-de-Nys, a knife attack was carried out by a native of Tunisia, Ibrahim al-Awisawi. As a result of the attack, three people were killed, while two victims had their throats cut, one woman was beheaded by the terrorist. The attacker was wounded by the police during the arrest and was hospitalized. The previously unknown group “Al-Mahdi in the south of Tunisia” claimed responsibility for the incident. As part of the proceedings, the police detained six more people, a few days later, three of them were released.

The attacks in Europe began after the 18-year-old Chechen Abdulakh Anzorov killed and beheaded history teacher Samuel Pati on October 16 in Conflans-Saint-Honorine near Paris. Before that, the teacher showed schoolchildren caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad during a lesson on freedom of speech.
