“Will quickly bring you to your senses”: What is China's role in the alliance between Russia and the DPRK Melania Golembyovskaya

The DPRK has transferred its troops to Russia for exercises. It is likely that the cooperation between the two dictators may not end there. China is currently standing aside from these events, but may soon intervene.

China is trying to be a leader not only in the BRICS organization, but also in the world. Political analyst and Russian oppositionist Olga Kurnosova told Channel 24 that if the alliance between Russia and the DPRK poses a threat to China's economy, it may take matters into its own hands.

China's Role in Russia-DPRK Alliance

According to political analyst, North Korea's aid to Russia is a threat to Ukrainian military and peace. Already 12 thousand North Korean soldiers are preparing to go fight on the Ukrainian front. However, it is clear that these are not all the resources of the DPRK, how many more military they have – no one knows.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin should have given something in return to North Korea.

It seems to me that the DPRK will ask for nuclear technology, which is a threat not only to Europe, but to the whole world, chemical and bacteriological weapons, – noted Kurnosova.

In addition, North Korea may eventually ask for weapons and even troops, because recently it has repeatedly threatened war with South Korea.

The political analyst said that now Kim Jong-un will “rock the boat” and will watch China's reaction: will it allow them to negotiate with Putin without permission and sign any agreements.

It is much more convenient for the DPRK to have “free” relations with Russia than to be under China's protectorate.

Note!Korea expert Leonid Petrov said that Russia, China and the DPRK have complex historical and modern relations. In particular, he talks about their military cooperation and diplomatic hesitations. For now, China is trying to maintain a balance between relations with Russia and avoiding conflicts with the United States.

Kurnosova explained that for now, China does not interfere in such cooperation, because it does not harm its economy.

However, as soon as it sees that its economic interests are under threat and its influence in the region is diminishing, it will quickly “bring North Korea to its senses,” the political analyst emphasized.

The BRICS summit will take place in Kazan this month. Since the founding of this organization, China thought that it would be a political gathering around it. However, now the Russian dictator is trying to become the coordinator, so China is looking at the organization “crookedly.”

In general, BRICS can become a large economic structure. The organization can try to resist the G7 and promote its reserve currency, like the euro or the dollar.

“To what extent BRICS will become a political player is still an open question,” Kurnosova noted.
