In the first set, the Ukrainian tennis player made a break in the sixth game, taking the lead with a score of 4:2. But then Yastremska failed to realize a set point in the ninth game and allowed the American athlete to make a break.
The tiebreak helped determine the winner of the first set. Yastremska gave Gauff only three points and won the first set. In the end, the Ukrainian defeated the American in the number of winners – 15 to 3.
In the end, the match between Yastremska and Gauff lasted almost 1.5 hours. The Ukrainian made four fewer unforced errors (25 versus 29) and 10 more winners (16 versus 6) than the American.
