Hulusi Akar
Armenia should stop attacking civilian settlements and leave the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. This was stated by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, Anadolu agency writes with reference to the Turkish defense department.
Akar noted that by its actions Yerevan violates the ceasefire regime introduced. He added that Baku will not wait for a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem for another 30 years.
In addition to the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the ministers discussed the current state of affairs in Syria and Libya.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, which broke out over the disputed territories, entered a new phase on September 27, when active hostilities began with the use of artillery, aircraft and armored vehicles. After almost two weeks of fighting, the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia met in Moscow and held talks mediated by Russia. On October 10, the parties declared a truce, but later continued to accuse each other of violating the ceasefire.
During the conflict, Turkey sided with Baku, which caused the alarm of Yerevan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev stated that he sees Ankara's actions as an “exceptionally positive” and “stabilizing” role, but in Armenia the country's policy was considered provocative.
