US President Donald Trump was glad that his rival in the upcoming presidential elections will be Democratic candidate Joe Biden, and not Bernie Sanders. He speculated about this in an interview with Fox News.
In his opinion, he received the right to run for president due to the fact that Senator from Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren had not yet withdrawn from the election race by the time of “Super Tuesday”. “If she had suspended the campaign, Bernie would have won all states on Super Tuesday. And we [as an opponent] would have Bernie, not Biden. But I am happy with the way everything was resolved, ”the American leader concluded.
He added that he is not worried about the first televised debate with his opponent, which is scheduled for September 29 in Cleveland, Ohio. Trump chided his opponent for often saying incoherent things. “I think it’s about the drugs, I’ve heard about it. Otherwise, I don’t know how to explain the fact that he cannot even finish the [sentence] he has begun, ”the head of the White House suggested.
Earlier, the American leader said that his opponent “got out of the basement” because of bad polls. “Fine! Biden was finally forced to leave his basement. Now you can see what's going on “up there”. He can run a “limited” [election] campaign. However, Biden's basement is no longer so good at polling, ”the president said.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 3. Trump will run for a second term from the Republican Party, and Democrats will back former Vice President Biden.
