The US administration is conducting a relatively productive dialogue with the Taliban (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) , which seized power in Afghanistan. This is how American Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West assessed contacts with militants, TASS reports.
“We have a relatively honest and productive dialogue with the Taliban, with the leaders of the organization,” the politician said. He also stressed that the Taliban are sincerely committed to fighting the terrorist group “Islamic State” (IS, banned in Russia) in the republic.
Earlier it became known that the government of Afghanistan, formed by the Taliban, promised to revise its policy towards the United States if the US government withholds funds from the Afghan Central Bank. The militants called on Washington to release the assets of the Afghans without any conditions.
