Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov criticized the practice of extraditing Russians from third countries to the United States. He told about this on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”, RIA Novosti reports.
Peskov called this practice, indeed, vicious and illegal. “This causes our deep concern,” he stressed.
The Kremlin spokesman also called on Russian citizens to be particularly concerned amid such unpredictable actions by Washington. He added that the Russian authorities will continue to protect the interests of Russians to the extent possible.
On December 18, it became known that the Russian businessman Vladislav Klyushin was extradited from Switzerland to the United States. In response to this move, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia was deeply disappointed with the decision taken by the Swiss Federal Criminal Court. She noted that the Russian embassy is in contact with the entrepreneur's lawyers.
Klyushin was arrested in the canton of Wallis at the end of March 2021 and taken into custody pending an extradition order. According to the US, the businessman and his accomplices received tens of millions of dollars in exchange for classified information.
