The EU emphasizes that it is necessary to invest in defense.
The EU is concerned about the war that the Russian Federation unleashed against Ukraine and threatening statements Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. Therefore, they called for preparing for a possible war and taking measures for joint armament.
This was stated by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, writes DW.
“Those who speak and act like Putin do not want peace, but intend to continue,” said Ursula von der Leyen.
She also noted the importance of consistently supporting Ukraine and simultaneously strengthening its own defense capabilities.
“If we are to maintain peace on our continent, then we need to invest in defense,” Ursula emphasized.
Recall that the European Commission has allocated 1.5 billion euros of macro-financial assistance for Ukraine.
