The future flagship of the Ukrainian Navy, the corvette Hetman Ivan Mazepa, will be able to perform a number of tasks, in particular, water protection, anti-surface warfare, and reconnaissance.

Pletenchuk says that Turkey, which is completing the first corvette named Ivan Mazepa, should hand over the design of the vessel this year.

— This is a combat unit that can perform various tasks — this is the protection of the water area, coastal waters, combating surface ships, reconnaissance, air defense cover, — said a representative of the Ukrainian Navy.
According to him, the corvette was modernized during the immediate construction, since the Russian-Ukrainian war demonstrated how the realities of combat operations have changed in the present.
— Therefore, some design changes were made to this corvette. The crew is currently undergoing training, this process is very long, — added a Navy representative.

Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy released a video in which the multi-purpose corvette-class ship Getman Ivan Mazepa of the Ukrainian Navy is undergoing sea trials (state) at sea.
For the first time, the corvette Getman Ivan Mazepa was launched in October 2022, in Turkey.
It is noteworthy that Turkey is also building another ship for the Ukrainian Armed Forces Navy, namely — Ada class corvette, which from March of this year will be called Getman Ivan Vygovsky.
