After lengthy discussions, the Bundestag again failed to reach a compromise on the transfer of German long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine.

This is reported on the Bundestag website.

On January 17, during a meeting of deputies, 178 elected representatives voted for the transfer of warheads to Kyiv, 485 were against, 3 abstained.

Christian Democratic Union member Kerstin Feregge actively spoke to her colleagues in support of the draft resolution in favor of Ukraine against the backdrop of its struggle for freedom.

— Taurus supplies are possible and necessary. Since the beginning of a full-scale war, we have voiced many initiatives to support Ukraine with modern weapons, but two years later, too few of them have been implemented,” said the German politician.

Later, the people’s deputy from the Servant of the People, Yegor Chernev, commented on the unpleasant news for Ukraine. As his friends in the Bundestag said, the bill was rejected not on its merits, but because of a violation of procedure.

— This was a separate bill from part of the opposition, which she wanted to put to a vote without coordination with others. It was rejected for trying to use it for partisan PR. The plan to submit a joint bill of all factions to the Bundestag remains in force, — Chernev assured his followers on Facebook.

Recall that the German government transferred another package of military assistance to Ukraine, which included Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Gepard self-propelled guns, Leopard shells, drones, armored personnel carriers and the like.
