Sandu's opponent will be the Prosecutor General and the candidate from the pro-Russian Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova Alexander Stoianoglo – he took second place with 25.99% of the vote.

According to the Central Election Commission of Moldova, 1,543,081 citizens took part in the voting. The turnout is 51.68%. The most active voters were in the age range of 36-45 and 56-65.

Referendum results in Moldova

On the same day, a referendum on the country's European integration was held in Moldova. Citizens were asked the following questions: “Do you support amendments to the Constitution with the aim of the Republic of Moldova joining the European Union?”.

According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission, the number of those who voted “yes” is 50.45%, “no” – 49.55%.

As the publication points out, despite the general preliminary support, in 23 of the 32 districts of Moldova, the overwhelming majority of voters in the constitutional referendum chose “no”.
