The Ministry of defence of the tanker project 23130 will create in the Arctic fleet “floating gas stations”, report “Izvestia”, citing sources in the defense Ministry.
The newspaper reminds that the head ship of the series, “Academician Pashin”, joined the Northern fleet in January. “A few years in the Arctic will start to operate the whole group of such courts. It is planned that they will not only provide ships at sea with fuel, but also will be a critical logistics element of the entire Arctic infrastructure of Russia”, — writes the edition.
According to the newspaper, the average sea tanker of 23130 project has a displacement of 9 thousand tons, length — 130 meters, width — 21 meters, maximum speed — 16 knots. The duration of Autonomous navigation — up to two months. Maximum range — more than 14.5 thousand kilometers. The ship is able to operate in the Arctic ocean when the ice thickness up to 0.8 meters.
