The production of the R-33 turbojet aircraft engine for the MiG-29 and MiG-35 aircraft is located in Russia, which Turkey may need for the Turkish Fighter X (TF-X) fighter it is creating. This was announced to Interfax by the executive director of UEC-Klimov, Alexander Vatagin.

“Turkey is showing great interest in this dimension. They have long wanted to build their own fighter. Based on what we see and what information we have, they need an engine with just such a thrust, ”the top manager is sure.

Earlier in September, the American edition of Defense News reported that Ukraine and Turkey are seeking to deepen their military-technical cooperation, possibly under the TF-X program, which was the subject of talks held in late August in Ankara.

In June, Dmitry Shugaev, head of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation of Russia, said that the TF-X fighter, if created and entered the international market, could become a competitor to the Russian Su-57.

In July 2019, Zvezda wrote that TF-X could pose a threat to Russia, as Ankara plans to receive 250 of these aircraft, while Moscow plans to purchase just 76 Su-57 fighters.
