Stoltenberg announced the need to extend support for Ukraine / OP

The NATO Secretary General noted the importance of assistance to our state. The more partners support Ukraine, the faster the war will end.

Jens Stoltenberg stated this in an interview with the German broadcaster ARD. A high-ranking official stressed that the war continues to be attritional, Channel 24 reports .

“It is in our interests to make sure that Ukraine achieves its goal”

The Secretary General noted that he is always cautious in assessing the current situation at the front. After all, wars by their nature are unpredictable.

Only one thing can be said for sure: the more we support Ukraine, the faster this war can end,” Stoltenberg emphasized.

He also noted that it is important to demonstrate to the Russian dictator that he will not be able to “wait out” the West in a war of attrition.

It should be clearly understood that for Ukraine, Putin’s victory would be a tragedy. But it would also be unsafe for us. It is in our interests to prevent this victory. It is in our interests to make sure that Ukraine achieves its goal,” the Secretary General emphasized.

Also opined that the front line has largely remained unchanged over the past few months. At the same time, he emphasized that Ukraine managed to inflict great damage on the occupiers deep behind the front line with the help of missiles.

The defense forces managed to destroy many enemy aircraft and helicopters. In addition, the defenders pushed the Russian Black Sea Fleet into the eastern part of the sea.

This means that we can now keep open sea trade routes through which Ukrainian grain is exported through the Black Sea. These are all significant victories, although they did not manage to move the front line, said Jens Stoltenberg.

The Secretary General added that military conflicts usually develop in stages, so successes may be followed by failures. However, this is not a reason to refuse support for Ukraine.

“We must support Ukraine in both bad and good times. There is a war of attrition. A war where efficiency and good logistics win. Maintaining a high rate of production is a matter of particular weight,” the NATO official emphasized.
