— On February 23, 2024, the Central Election Commission, by its resolution, condemned the unlawful decisions and actions of the Russian authorities in the temporarily occupied territories.

The results of such pseudo-elections are insignificant and provide grounds for non-recognition of the president elected in this way, in particular his legal personality in international society, — indicated in the press service of the Central Election Commission.

Electing Putin as President of the Russian Federation — Europe's reaction

On May 17, PACE adopted a resolution clearly stating that Russian polling stations were established on the sovereign territories of Ukraine.

This is a gross violation of the UN Charter and the principle of sovereignty, political independence and territorial integrity of all states.

Already on May 25, the European Parliament also announced that it did not recognize the presidential elections in the Russian Federation as legitimate, and Putin — legally elected head of state.

Among the reasons for this position are also the violation of UN norms during the voting process, as well as the Kremlin’s complete purge of the real opposition on the eve of the so-called elections.
