German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has rejected President Volodymyr Zelensky's call to admit Ukraine to NATO before the end of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
The politician said this on the ZDF TV channel.
According to the Chancellor, the members of the North Atlantic Alliance have already come to a consensus on Ukraine's prospects, and there is no point in changing this decision.

The key principle that, according to Scholz, Kyiv should learn and realize is that “no country in a state of war can join NATO”.
— Everyone knows this, there is no disagreement on this matter. That is why no one expects Ukraine to be invited to NATO, since the invitation is connected with a fairly quick entry, — summed up Scholz.

NATO Acting Deputy Secretary General Boris Ruge noted that there is currently no debate about whether Ukraine should join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, since a certain direction has already been determined.
He pointed out that Ukrainian leader Zelensky is trying to advance this process using the Victory Plan, but the protocol requires waiting for the consent of all 32 members of the Bloc.
At the same time, Ruge cited the example of Finland and Sweden, when joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization took place quite quickly by historical standards.
