The likelihood that a miracle will happen remains.
European officials assess the chances of success in negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union at the level of 20-30%. Although, in view of recent statements, this estimate seems even too high.
This is stated in the article of European Pravda.
Failure is not publicly acknowledged
Journalists note that the Ukrainian leadership is also preparing for refusal. After a conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Vladimir Zelensky does not rule out that there will be a “veto”. “If Hungary blocks the EU decision, this means that Putin imposed a veto,” the Ukrainian president believes.
However, there will still be no “complete failure”. At least publicly, analysts say, it is not recognized. For now we can say with almost absolute certainty that:
“It is these nuances that seem to become the basis for drawing conclusions about what the results of this summit are. Or about how bad the situation is in an alliance where one of the members is both openly pro-Russian and in fact, he lost the right to EU membership a long time ago, but an “antidote” for which has still not been found,” writes the “EP”.
At the same time, the chance for surprise, even in this sad situation, still remains. “If Orban ultimately changes his position and agrees to start negotiations, this will mean that an antidote exists,” the article concluded.
Earlier, Stefanishina spoke about the “pitfalls” in negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
