Unknown people in Lviv poured paint on the monument to the ideologist of Ukrainian nationalism Stepan Bandera. This was reported on the region's police Facebook page.
The incident took place on the night of February 5, passers-by called the police and informed about the attack on the monument. A criminal case was opened under the hooliganism article. The maximum sentence for her is four years in a penal colony. Law enforcers have not yet been able to identify those involved in the case.
In 1929, Stepan Bandera headed the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, banned in the Russian Federation). During the Second World War, he actively collaborated with the occupying authorities of the Third Reich. In 1959, in Munich, he was eliminated by KGB agent Bogdan Stashinsky.
In 2019, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, being a presidential candidate in Ukraine, said that “Bandera is a hero for a certain percentage of Ukrainians, and this is normal and cool.”
