Syrian rebels have eliminated the 24-year regime of President Bashar al-Assad. Now there is information that the opposition has burned the grave of the dictator's father, Hafez al-Assad.

This was reported by 24 Channel with reference to Al Arabia.

Arson of Bashar al-Assad's family crypt

The opposition has set fire to the grave of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's father, Hafez, in his hometown of Qardaha. Hafez al-Assad was the founder of the regime in Syria and was in power for almost 30 years.

Hafez's wife and eldest son Basil were also buried in the same crypt. He was supposed to inherit power in Syria, but he died in a car accident in 1994. After the death of his brother, Bashar al-Assad returned from London and took over his father's regime.

The huge elevated structure on top of the hill has a complex architectural design with several arches, its exterior is decorated with an ornament engraved on the stone.

It should be noted that Bashar al-Assad himself fled Syria for Russia. It was the Kremlin that convinced the dictator to flee. Russian intelligence agents orchestrated the escape, flying Assad through his airbase in Syria. The plane's transponder was turned off to avoid tracking. The Kremlin claimed that Vladimir Putin personally provided Assad with asylum.
