Off the coast of the island of Palma in the Canary archipelago, Spanish security forces intercepted a ship filled with cocaine from Croatia. On Saturday, September 12, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the country's Civil Guard.
141 kilometers from the island, the Civil Guard boarded the sailing ship Majic. More than a ton of cocaine, packaged in 980 packages, was seized from the smugglers. Detained three crew members who are citizens of Croatia.
In February, Spanish law enforcement agencies, together with the Croatian National Police, conducted an anti-drug operation. Later colleagues from the Canary Islands, Great Britain, the USA, the Netherlands and France joined them.
It is established that in winter Majic sailed from Dubrovnik to Montenegro, and then the ship was supposed to head for Spain. In the beginning it was close to Barbados and Martinique, in June Majic returned to the Canary Islands. Then the ship went towards Brazil, but soon the crew, as suggested by the Spanish department, headed south, parallel to Africa.
The Civil Guard said that as soon as Majic changed direction abruptly, agents intercepted him, as it became clear that drugs were loaded on the ship.
