Emelyan Gebrev
The Bulgarian prosecutor's office named three Russian citizens suspected of attempting to murder several citizens of the republic in 2015, whom they allegedly tried to poison. This is stated on the website of the department.
The Russians were put on the international wanted list by Interpol. The prosecutor's office claims that they hide their real names: Georgy Gorshkov uses the name Egor Gordienko, Sergey Pavlov – Sergey Lyutenko (Sergey Lyutenko), Sergey Fedotov – Denis Sergeev (Denis Sergeev). In this regard, Bulgaria has updated its previous arrest warrants and international wanted list requests. The prosecutor's office notes that it checked the hotel rooms and apartments where the suspects lived, and also interviewed managers and hotel employees.
In addition, the investigation found that the organophosphorus compound diethyl phosphonate was used for the poisoning. Prior to this, News.bg and the BBC Russian Service also wrote that, according to the findings of the Helsinki University laboratory, it could have been a Novichok-class poison.
On April 28, 2015, in Bulgaria, an attempt was made on the life of businessman Yemelyan Gebrev, his son Hristo and one of the top managers of the arms company: they tried to poison them with an unidentified substance. The entrepreneur is engaged in the arms trade and, in particular, supplied arms to Ukraine, as well as Georgia during the war with South Ossetia in 2008.
Sergei Fedotov is allegedly also linked to the poisoning of former GRU spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter. Bellingcat then stated that Fedotov was in fact a graduate of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry and a senior GRU officer Denis Vyacheslavovich Sergeev. Moscow denied this.
