Joe Biden
Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden broke the record for the most popular votes received. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to CNBC.
As noted, he received the largest number of votes in the history of the country. Thus, the Democrat broke Barack Obama's record set in 2008. He received almost 69.5 million votes (52.93 percent).
According to Fox News, at 21:20 GMT Biden received 50.2 percent of the vote. 70 107 686 people voted for it.
Earlier it became known that Biden took the lead in another key state – Wisconsin. After that, the headquarters of the current US President Donald Trump demanded a recount of votes in the state.
Prior to that, Trump found it strange that Biden was suddenly ahead of several states.
General Election Day was held in the United States on November 3. Citizens elected a president and vice president, 35 senators, the entire House of Representatives, 13 governors and local government representatives. Turnout in 2020 is estimated to be the highest in 120 years.
The vote count has not yet been officially completed; in many states, the difference between presidential contenders is tenths of a percent. So far, Biden has 238 electoral votes, and Trump has 214. Despite the fact that the final results of the presidential election are not yet, Trump has already congratulated his voters on his victory. Biden's headquarters also expressed confidence in victory.
