Biden avoids this: what is Europe’s position on sending its troops to Ukraine

by alex

The Western world realized that the war could very quickly move into NATO and EU territory. Given this threat, some countries allow the introduction of troops into Ukraine. However, the US says that they can only intervene for 2 reasons: if Russia attracts Belarus or attacks the Baltic countries, Poland or Moldova.

Political scientist Nikolai Davidyuk, in a conversation with 24 Channel , explained that if the occupiers attack the Baltic countries, then US troops will enter from their side, and Ukraine will not receive support. But the remark about Belarus is a “hello” to Alexander Lukashenko and a warning to Vladimir Putin. But so far there is no sign of Joe Biden’s readiness to actually send American troops to our country.

France, Lithuania, Estonia and Poland are indeed considering the potential possibility of sending their troops to Ukraine. While the United States will avoid such a scenario in every possible way, in Europe, on the contrary, various initiatives will only increase. Because the Europeans understand that Russia, in case of victory, will attack the EU and NATO countries. Biden himself, that they are ready to actually send in troops and are thinking about it. We would immediately see a lot of equipment. Remember the Iran-Iraq campaign, said Davidyuk.

The West has become bolder

According to Davidyuk, the new NATO members – Sweden and Finland – are not afraid of Putin, and freely talk about their own nuclear weapons. May should be a turning point, this is indicated by two factors:

  • at the beginning of June the first Western F-16 fighters should arrive in Ukraine;
  • partner countries can give the green light to the use of foreign weapons on Russian territory.

It is Western politicians who are now being criticized by analysts for the offensive of the invaders in the Kharkov region. After all, they do not allow their missiles to be fired at Russian warehouses and other facilities. However, there is hope that such a ban will soon disappear.

The introduction of foreign troops into Ukraine: what is known

  • Emmanuel Macron was the first to speak about the potential possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine back in February 2024. The French President emphasized that “not ruling out something does not mean doing it.” According to him, the only way to achieve peace is to stop the aggressor.
  • Subsequently, Advisor to the President of Estonia Madis Roll announced serious discussions on the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine as part of a full-fledged NATO mission. At the same time, Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur explained that the government has not yet discussed this issue. They see the priority of supplying ammunition to Ukraine and conducting exercises in other countries.
  • Prime Minister of Lithuania Ingrida Simonyte said that her country is ready to send military personnel to Ukraine for training. According to her, Russia will consider this a provocation, but Lithuania does not believe in her threats.
  • At the same time, Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosette said that Italian troops will not interfere into the conflict in Ukraine. He believes that Macron's statements about the introduction of Western troops create tension. Similar statements were made from Hungary.
