This was stated by EU High Representative Josep Borrell during a visit to the United States, during a speech at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, Ukrinform reports.

He expressed regret that the discussion in the United States regarding the extension of support for Ukraine took the Ukrainians six months.

So these six months of delay in American assistance, as well as some delay on our part in the supply of ammunition, may, unfortunately, lead to changes that, in many cases, will be paid for in the loss of lives, many lives,” Borrell said.
He noted that Europeans are concerned about whether the US will continue to pursue the same security priorities depending on who comes to the White House.
He touched on the topic of elections.
“This (elections – ed.) is your business, but it will affect the world, and especially us. We are watching what can happen in the USA. Because for us Europeans it will be very It is difficult to provide Ukraine with the support they need to continue their fight on their own. I believe that we – Europe and the United States – must continue this line of assistance powerfully.
He recalled that most EU member states, with the exception of “one or two” countries, perceive Russian aggression as an existential threat to Europe, especially those close to the Russian border. The EU was able to maintain unity around assistance to Ukraine and became its largest security provider. Since the beginning of the war, according to Borrell, EU assistance – both civilian and military – has exceeded 96 billion euros. By this indicator, the EU exceeds the United States, which remains the leader in providing military assistance.
