Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced the start of the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. His words are quoted by TASS with reference to the Austrian Press Agency on Sunday, September 13.

“Two weeks ago there were about 350 new cases of infection per day, yesterday there were more than 850. The situation is especially dramatic in Vienna, where 50 percent of all new infections in Austria were noted. We will soon reach 1,000 cases per day, ”said Kurz, stressing that autumn and winter will be difficult.

In this regard, the Chancellor called on Austrian residents to comply with measures to prevent the spread of infection. “We are now all called upon to meet the challenges of the coming months with the same discipline and attention that we showed in the spring,” he concluded.

A Russian woman previously living in Austria told how the Europeans managed to defeat the coronavirus. According to her, the quarantine measures there were very strict: everyone had to wear masks and gloves, it was impossible to gather in companies of more than five people and move along the street unless absolutely necessary. “Austria is one of the first European countries where the growth of cases has become stable, precisely because these tough measures, taken almost a month ago, were respected,” she explained, adding that there is no longer any panic in the country.

After that, information appeared that in Austria they concealed information about the outbreak of coronavirus in ski resorts. About five thousand tourists who have visited St. Anton and Ischgl have prepared a class action lawsuit against local authorities for deliberately concealing information about the infection in these regions.
