Scientists have found that babies born in the fall are more prone to asthma, allergies and hay fever. The Daily Mail writes about this with reference to Dr. Jessica Hui.
She works at the National Jewish Health Center in Colorado. Her team found a more pronounced propensity for this disease in “autumn” children. They often provoke an atopic march – allergic reactions that lead to more serious illnesses. According to experts, this may be due to the bacterial environment.
Scientists believe that allergies develop in infancy when allergens pass through the baby's dry and cracked skin. Scientists are currently testing whether children's skin is actually becoming less protected in the fall. “If we can intervene at a very early age, right after the baby is out of the womb, then potentially it will help us stop the development of the atopic march,” explained Dr. Hui.
