After Putin, Erdogan spoke about the war in Ukraine with Xi Jinping

The Turkish President spoke with the Chinese leader about the threat of escalation in the Russian war against Ukraine.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who proposed the day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a “just peace” in Ukraine; on Thursday, July 4, he held a meeting closed to the press with the head of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping. At this meeting, the discussion was again about Russian aggression in Ukraine.

This is reported by the Turkish Anadolu Agency with reference to the Communications Department under the Administration of the President of Turkey.

Negotiations between Turkish and Chinese leaders took place on the sidelines of the 24th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. From the Turkish side, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek were also present at the negotiations.

“During the meeting, the Turkish leader warned about the extremely serious threat of the spread of the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine and Israeli aggression against Palestine at the regional and global levels. The head of state called on the international community to take preventive measures to prevent such developments,” the publication writes.

The Turkish President also noted that Ankara is aimed at taking further steps to comprehensively develop relations with China. He emphasized that expanding Turkish-Chinese ties will benefit both countries.

China has not yet commented on Xi Jinping’s negotiations with Erdogan.

Recall that after Erdogan’s negotiations with Putin, the speaker of the Kremlin owner, Dmitry Peskov, said that Turkey is not may be a mediator in negotiations on Ukraine.
