The sooner Ukraine receives enough modern weapons, the sooner the Armed Forces will return a world that will be safer for Europe and the world. The practice of dosing military assistance to Ukraine for fear of irritating Vladimir Putin and not provoking Russia to further escalation is a wrong decision. Western partners must prevent the network of military assistance to Kyiv from unraveling.
About this in their article “Strategic turning point” Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Alexey Danilov wrote on the pages of the Ukrainskaya Pravda publication.
He recalled that at a recent meeting with representatives of the diplomatic corps, the 10 points of the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky and the mechanisms for its implementation were once again discussed. In this context, the NSDC Secretary focused on several important points of the Formula, on which its full implementation will depend.

In particular, Alexey Danilov especially noted the clause of the Peace Formula, which provides for the withdrawal of all Russian troops and armed formations from the territory of Ukraine and the restoration of full control over all sections of the state border. The NSDC Secretary called this point “the key element of the entire Ukrainian initiative, without which the entire structure is ineffective.”

The head of the National Security and Defense Council called the practice of dosing military assistance to Ukraine out of concern not to irritate Putin and provoke Russia to further escalation as fundamentally erroneous. In his opinion, refusal or delay in transferring modern weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces is a direct encouragement of the Kremlin for further war, and not vice versa.

Aleksey Danilov is convinced that during the war a lot happened that Ukraine and the whole world were not ready for, but firmness and resilience were shown, which are now necessary in the circumstances of the new reality. In his opinion, “in conditions where the future causes fear with its uncertainty and unpredictability, it is possibleget tired and succumb to the temptation of skepticism or compromise, and this is precisely what Putin’s calculation is based on.Therefore, it is no coincidence that, realizing the turning point of the moment, there are signs of a certain media preparation of public opinion in this direction.

- optimism regarding the success of Ukraine began to wane;
- the Ukrainian counter-offensive has failed, the country's combat capability is fading every day;
- The Armed Forces of Ukraine will not be able to liberate the territories;
- Ukraine's ability to withstand the war is calculated in weeks and months;
- resources Russia is limitless and is needed by the world economy;
- it is better to quickly end the conflict, even if this allows Russia to retain the captured territories.
The Kremlin, in turn, Danilov continues, is sending false signals about its own “love of peace” and readiness to end the war, which also slows down the West’s decision to provide Ukraine with new types of weapons and military equipment or increase the supply of existing items.
All this, the NSDC Secretary is convinced, poses the threat described in the publication Foreign Affairs, — “the slow unraveling of the carefully woven web of foreign aid”.
In this context, Alexey Danilov is convinced that for a more successful and, if possible, rapid implementation of the Peace Formula, so that there is no “unraveling of the network of help,” our partners must make several of the following decisions:
- Firstly, to form an agreed formula for one’s own vision of the Ukrainian victory, which creates political responsibility;
- Secondly, taking into account the electoral political cycles and possible changes in the situation in Europe and the United States from the point of view of maintaining the stability of the partnership , the step to consolidate military assistance to Ukraine in long-term cycles and legislation is considered far-sighted;
- Thirdly, develop and implement a set of measures to level out the so-called “weariness from war”;
- Fourthly, replan joint activities within the framework of all points of the Peace Formula from the point consideration of the factor of time and sequence, bearing in mind their possible long-term nature;
Finally, Alexey Danilov once again emphasized that Putin and his war are a cancer. If it is not removed completely and completely, it is only a matter of time before a relapse begins in an even worse form with metastases spreading throughout the body”.
