According to the publication, Berlin and Paris are probably ready to conclude relevant agreements with Ukraine following the example of London earlier in January. However, the details of the documents that will be signed with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz are still unknown.

The signing of a bilateral agreement between Paris and Kiev is expected at the Elysee Palace in the French capital on the evening of February 16th. The agreement included economic and financial elements and was not limited to military ones, French officials said.

The logic behind it is support Ukraine in the long term in order to make Russian aggression fail, noted one French official.

The publication also noted that Germany insists on both European and and on American partners regarding stricter obligations on military supplies for Kiev.

According to statements by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Berlin is budgeting 3.5 billion euros for ammunition supplies this year and will deliver 3 to 4 times more in 2024 compared to 2023.

In addition, Germany confirmed that Zelensky and Scholz will sign a security agreement. According to a representative of the German government, during the negotiations at the Federal Chancellery, “a bilateral agreement on security obligations and long-term support will be signed.”

It is also known that after the press conference Zelensky will meet with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
