President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine has the moral right to strike Russian territory.
He said this in Scott Pelley’s 60 Minutes program on CBS.
Zelensky noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are using weapons partners only on Ukrainian territory.
Now they are watching
According to him, there are some operations that Ukraine is conducting in response to corresponding operations on the part of the Russian Federation. However, these are not punitive operations, as the Russians do when they kill civilians.
— But Russia must know that if a missile is fired at Ukraine from this or that place, wherever it may be, then Ukraine has all the moral rights to respond to that place, — he said.
The President added that with some operations Ukraine is trying to attract the attention of Russians, demonstrating that their skies are not as closed as they think and certain institutions are not as safe.
— All the conversations, all your money, all the millions and all the billions that you gave for the militarization of your state, — none of this works as well as you think. You will not remain calm if you destroy civilians and in this case it is us — Ukraine, — he emphasized.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is not attacking the civilian population of Russia, but Russians should know that Ukraine is capable of responding.
— If you turn off our lights, deprive us of electricity, deprive us of water, gasoline — you should know that your military-political leadership is doing all this. You should know that we also have the right to do this, — the president summed up.
Zelensky also does not rule out new attacks on Russian ships.
