Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law that prohibits the removal of organs for transplantation from military personnel who died in the line of duty.
This is stated in the card of the bill No. 4203-IX with the signature of the president on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Ban on transplantation of organs of deceased military personnel
According to the law, it is prohibited to remove organs for transplantation from military personnel who died in the line of duty and people who died as a result of armed aggression.

Organ removal is prohibited in the following cases:
- if a person died or died due to the use of coercive measures by employees of law enforcement, security and other structures;
- if a serviceman of the Defense and Security Forces died in the line of duty in regions where martial law is in effect;
- if death occurred as a result of armed aggression against Ukraine.
The law aims to ensure ethical standards in relation to the deceased, to protect them and the rights of their families.
As stated in the explanatory note, the law will promote legal certainty and unambiguous law enforcement in the sphere transplants.
