Russia wants to stretch the Ukrainian Defense Forces from the Donetsk region to the Kharkov region, but Ukrainian troops have only strengthened their positions in the Kharkov region this week.
President Vladimir Zelensky announced this during his evening address following the results of May 19.
Situation at the front
The President said that today, as every day, priority was given to all areas of combat operations and all lines of defense.

He stated that there was a report from the Commander-in-Chief, in which General Alexander Syrsky, who is on the front line, reported.
— The results of these days — all week — we have stronger positions in the Kharkov region, — Zelensky said.
The head of state thanked the 57th and 82nd brigades.
In addition, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are quite effectively destroying the occupier in the Donetsk directions, the president added, in particular, this is happening in the area of the city of Chasov Yar and other settlements.
— Actually, the occupier does not achieve his goal — to stretch our forces and thereby weaken Ukraine on a broad front from the Kharkov region to the Donetsk region. I thank each of our soldiers, each sergeant, each officer who is brave enough and steadfast enough to carry out combat orders and maintain our positions, — the president explained.
He also especially noted the 41st brigade, 225th separate assault battalion, special forces GUR Kraken and Artan, as well as units of the National Guard for the battles these days.
— It was for Chasov Yar — for destroyed Russian equipment and repelling assaults — thank you guys — Zelensky said.
Consequences of RF attacks
In the second part of the address, Vladimir Zelensky thanked the units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and the National Police, as well as every medical worker and repair team workers who are involved in eliminating the consequences of Russian strikes.
— Brutal Russian shelling, missile attacks, and guided bomb attacks continue daily. Sumy region, Kharkov region. Donetsk region, Zaporozhye, Nikolaev region, cities of the Dnieper region. Whatever the difficulties, there is a proper response from our emergency services everywhere — all life savers, — said the President.
The head of state named the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of the Kharkov region, who proved themselves in helping Ukrainians:

- Vladislav Kasyanuk;
- Andrey Skiba;
- Stanislav Neshcheretny.
The President also thanked Svetlana Shovkova, doctor, Volchansky emergency medical care department.
Separately, the head of state thanked the rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Sumy region:
- Evgeniy Kostrov;
- Andrey Olkhovsky;
- Sergey Kovbasa;
- Igor Ponomarenko.
As for paramedics of emergency teams who work in the Sumy region, Zelensky noted Marina Bakun and Oleg Efimenko.
At the end, the head of state thanked the masters of the repair teams who are restoring normalcy to life after Russian shelling in the Sumy region: Alexander Stolyarenko, Sergei Kisly and all their colleagues.
