Zelensky proposes to impose sanctions against arms manufacturers from the Russian Federation and Belarus for 50 years

President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a bill on the application of sectoral sanctions to Russia and Belarus in the defense industry.

The restrictions are proposed to be applied for a period of 50 years, this is stated in the card of draft law No. 10271.

They are invited to approve the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated November 20, 2023.

What is proposed in draft law No. 10271?

According to the document, we are talking about the application of sanctions for a period of 50 years to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the military-industrial sphere:

  • a ban on conducting transactions with goods and services, the international transfers of which are subject to the Law of Ukraine on State Control over International Transfers of Military and Dual-Use Goods, with residents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, in particular those carried out with the involvement of residents of other states;
  • suspension of the fulfillment of economic and financial obligations in favor of residents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus for transactions with military and dual-use goods.
  • prohibition of the transfer of technologies and rights to objects of intellectual property rights to residents and residents of the Russian Federation and Belarus;
  • prohibition on the implementation by residents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus of actions to obtain documents of protection, the implementation of other actions related to the protection of rights to intellectual property (inventions, utility models, industrial designs, semiconductor product designs, trademarks, geographical indications, plant varieties, copyright objects and related rights), except for actions to extend the validity of intellectual property rights and extend the validity of protection documents;
  • prohibition of registration and accreditation of collective management organizations whose founders are residents of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus;
  • termination of joint projects and industrial programs in the field of security and defense, the participants of which are residents of the Russian Federation and or the Republic of Belarus, in relation to military and dual-use goods.

Let us remind you that on November 18, Zelensky signed a decree that put into effect the decision of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to sanction a number of individuals, including ex-Prime Minister Mykola Azarov. ex-minister Dmitry Tabachnik and ex-people's deputies Dmitry Svyatash and Oleg Tsarev.
