Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky believes that frozen Russian assets can be used to purchase weapons in the United States, in order to simultaneously develop the American military-industrial sector and help Ukrainian troops defend themselves against Russian aggression.
Zelensky said this in an interview with American podcast host Lex Friedman.
Ukraine can buy US weapons with Russian money
— Take the 300 billion frozen Russian assets. We will take them. We will take the money that is needed for our domestic production and we will buy all the weapons in the USA. We do not need gifts from the USA. This will be useful for your industry, for the United States. We will invest money there. Russian money, not Ukrainian, not European, — Zelensky proposed.
This, the president believes, could become one of the security guarantees for Ukraine.

Frozen assets of the Russian Federation
Recall that in 2024, the G7 countries agreed to use $300 billion in frozen Russian assets to provide Ukraine with a multi-billion loan at the expense of interest on their profits.
Already in October, the European Parliament agreed to provide Ukraine with a loan of €35 billion.
In turn, the United States agreed to provide Ukraine with $15 billion from the income from frozen assets RF.
