Zelensky met with Blaszczak/Office of the President

On July 12, Volodymyr Zelensky met with Mariusz Blashak, Minister of National Defense of Poland. The President stressed that the department supports the strength of the Ukrainian army.

Zelensky first of all thanked for the support that Poland provides to Ukraine, Channel 24 reports. In particular, assistance to citizens who were forced to leave their homes due to Russia's war against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader thanked his Polish counterpart Andrzej Dudi on behalf of the Ukrainians. Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Defense of Poland.

The Ministry of Defense of Poland supports the Ukrainian army, the fortress of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is a confirmation that we are together in the current difficult situation – in this tragedy that is now happening in Ukraine due to Russian aggression, – the president said.

Zelensky expressed his conviction that already in peacetime, relations between Ukraine and Poland will develop, and the countries will draw closer together.

Blaszczak thanked Zelensky and all Ukrainians for their resilience in resisting Russian aggression.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for your position, because the freedom and independence of Ukraine is the freedom and independence of Poland. Thank you for protecting us,” Blaszczak said.

Zelensky on the special status of the Poles

During the evening address on July 11 President Zelensky said he had already sent a draft law on the special status of Poles to the Verkhovna Rada. The Ukrainian leader noted that the Poles did everything for the Ukrainians. The Polish people deserve gratitude and a similar attitude.

Zelensky stressed that, in particular, he proposes to provide Poles with the opportunity to legally stay in Ukraine for 18 months, and also to get the right to:

  • carrying out economic activities;
  • education in Ukrainian universities;
  • medical care.
