< p _ngcontent-sc100="" class="news-annotation">February 20, the eve of the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion, the US President arrived in Kiev. During the visit, he met with Vladimir Zelensky.
During the meeting, Joe Biden announced the provision of a new package of military assistance to Ukraine. Zelensky stressed that the visit of the President of the United States is the most important sign of support for all Ukrainians.
Military aid package
According to Volodymyr Zelensky, the presidents discussed and transfer of long-range weapons. In addition, Biden said earlier that he intends to announce another package of supplies that will help protect Ukrainians from aerial bombardments.
The military assistance package, in particular, will include the supply of:
- artillery ammunition,
- anti-tank systems,
- air surveillance radars
Sanctions for Russia
The White House also announced that the US President will announce new sanctions against Russia. They will concern elites and companies that are trying to evade or fill the Russian war machine.
Biden said that after a visit to Kyiv, he was looking forward to traveling to Poland to meet with President Andrzej Duda and allied leaders from the eastern flank. There he wants to comment on how the States will continue to unite the world in support of Ukraine and the core values of human rights and dignity as enshrined in the UN Charter.
Biden's visit to Ukraine: in brief
- Biden arrived in Kiev on February 20. Footage has already appeared on the network of him and Volodymyr Zelensky walking around the capital.
- During the visit of the President of the United States to Ukraine, at about 11:40, a large-scale air raid was announced. It is associated with the MiG-31K fighter jets that took off on the territory of Russia and Belarus. It should be noted that these aircraft are capable of carrying hypersonic missiles of the “Dagger” type.
- The head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, said that Biden's visit to Ukraine is strategic. According to him, a lot of issues are being resolved in Kyiv and the pending ones will be accelerated.
- Russians, who traditionally reacted with hysteria, also became aware of Biden's visit. The invaders promptly demanded to bomb Kyiv and strike with nuclear weapons.
