How many people were returned from captivity
Zelensky also said that Ukraine has done a lot for the release from Russian captivity of Nariman Jelal, deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, two UGCC priests and civilians who were captured by the Russians in the occupied territory back in 2017 and 2018 .
– During the week, 90 military personnel were also released from captivity, and in total, during this war, 3 thousand 310 people were returned to Ukraine from Russian captivity. And they must find and return to Ukraine all of our people, each and everyone who is in captivity, who is deported, — adults and children, military and civilian, — emphasized the head of state.
He also thanked the United Arab Emirates and the Vatican for mediating the releases this week. He also said that he met with Jelal, who was released from captivity.
According to him, they discussed what to do next for our victory, the liberation of our land and to support the Crimean Tatar people. In addition, at the prayer breakfast he personally congratulated the priests Bohdan Geleta and Ivan Levitsky, who were released from captivity.
