In the first days of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on Bankova Street in the center of Kyiv, only a narrow circle of people remained who controlled all processes.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky spoke about this in the documentary film Monastyrsky’s Diary.
According to him, everyone else “disappeared somewhere”; they were not in the President’s Office in those first days of the big war. The President did not specify who exactly he was talking about.

– We just had a narrow circle of people who were here, who were on Bankovaya, who managed all the processes – from weapons, food, fortification of districts, defense of the capital… There simply weren’t many people-managers who led these processes. Everyone else disappeared somewhere – someone left, ran, walked. And then everyone came back and began to say what was this way or what wasn’t so at that moment when there were few of us,” Zelensky emphasized.
The president added that at the beginning of the invasion, “only friends remained.” And one of those who was in Kyiv and made important decisions for the country was the Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky.
“He was one of this narrow circle of very responsible people,” Zelensky said.
The documentary portrait is dedicated to the former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky.
