The disconnection of the Zaporizhzhya NPP is very resonant news, because any violation of technology can lead to a catastrophe. Stopping the ZNPP, especially the complete shutdown of all power units, is a serious thing, because such a large nuclear power plant as Zaporizhzhya has certain internal needs.
Channel 24 told about this People's Deputy and Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Housing and Public Utilities Andriy Gerus. He also noted that, in particular, pumps should be constantly running and cooling the reactors.
“Therefore, a rather extraordinary situation really happened today – first one power unit was turned off in an emergency, and then the protection system worked and another turned off,” he says. Andrey Gerus.
All this happened because of a fire that reached the transformer substation that feeds the ZNPP and the automatic fuses worked, so today we managed to avoid a catastrophe. – the expert notes.
According to Andrei Gerus, it should be emphasized once again that any military operations or heavy equipment near the nuclear power plant are unacceptable.
“The situation was saved today due to the fact that Zaporozhye NPP received electricity from the Ukrainian energy system, so all cooling processes were carried out in a timely and efficient manner,” explains Gerus.

- The occupants brought even more military and equipment to the ZNPP. In total, more than 40 units of military equipment are now deployed on the territory of the nuclear power plant. On August 22, the Russians brought two more armored personnel carriers and 6 special trucks to the plant's repair zone at the ZNPP.
