Former Supreme Allied Commander Europe James Jones suggested when Ukraine might get an answer on how to break the deadlock in the war. According to the general, this could happen as early as February 2024.

The Munich Security Conference is due to take place at this time. According to Jones, this event will show where Ukraine is moving along with its allies.

NATO general said when Ukraine will be able to hear how to get out of the “deadlock”

The journalist, asking a question to Jones, recalled the statement of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny, who noted that Ukraine, being in a “dead end,” is relying on technological progress. According to the Ukrainian general, to get out of this situation, something new is needed, like “gunpowder, invented by the Chinese and with which we are still killing each other.”

To this question, the NATO general replied that our state would receive the first idea of where the situation with the invention of something new by either side in the Russian-Ukrainian war would lead at the Munich Security Conference, which, according to Jones, would be dominated by the situation between our state and the aggressor country.

“I was there (at the conference – Channel 24) last year. There was a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of words said by political leaders like: 'We are with you until the end,'” the NATO officer said.

He noted that it will be interesting to see what the dialogue will be like in 2024.

And then we will have an idea of whether there is donor fatigue,” Jones said.

The general also noted that Putin certainly expects to be able to outlive the West. After all, according to the former commander, the West always wants to quickly end wars, calling for everything to be done to end the conflict.

Zaluzhny spoke about the situation at the front

  • In a recent article published in The Economist, the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Valery Zaluzhny, explained why the Ukrainian Armed Forces' counter-offensive did not have the success that everyone had hoped for. Zaluzhny explained that if everything had gone as planned, the Ukrainian Armed Forces would have already entered Crimea only after four months of offensive operations.
  • However, the general frankly admitted that he had made a mistake in his assessment. At first he believed that inflicting heavy losses on the enemy would stall his advance, but unfortunately this strategy did not produce the desired results.
  • In addition, Zaluzhny noted the problem of partners experiencing delays in the supply of important weapons. According to the general, certain weapons, such as the F-16, were more urgently needed in 2022.
  • Recognizing the potential threat of prolonged trench warfare, the commander-in-chief outlined five basic prerequisites that must be met to prevent such a scenario. These prerequisites include maintaining an advantage in both air power and technology.
