Yulia Levchenko Wins Silver in Brno, Qualifies for 2025 World Championships

Ukrainian track and field athlete Yulia Levchenko won silver at the Continental Tour stage in high jump in Brno and qualified for the 2025 World Championships.

Fifteen athletes competed for medals in the competition, including 2024 Olympic silver and bronze medalists Nicola Olislagers and Eleanor Patterson from Australia.

Yulia Levchenko cleared the first two bars and the height of 1.87 m on her first attempt. She also cleared the height of 1.90 m without making any mistakes – both Australians did the same.

Five athletes approached the height of 1.93, four of whom cleared it on the first attempt. The only miss was made by Olislagers. Levchenko, Olislagers and Patterson conquered the next bar at 1.96 m on the first jump, and another jumper did it on the third attempt.

Julia cleared the 1.98m mark on her third attempt, while Olislagers moved the bar, and Patterson and another athlete failed to clear any of their attempts.

The gold was contested between Olislagers and Levchenko; the Ukrainian was unable to conquer the height, while the Australian succeeded.

Silver stage of the Continental Tour Brno

  1. Nicola Olislagers (Australia) – 2.00 m;
  2. Yulia Levchenko (Ukraine) – 1.98 m;
  3. Eleanor Patterson (Australia) – 1.96 m.

Having cleared a height of 1.98 m, Levchenko met the qualification standard for participation in the 2025 World Championships.

This result was also her best in the last two years – the last time Yulia jumped so high was at the Diamond League stage in Chorzow in July 2023.
