Olympic champion in high jump Yaroslava Maguchikh told how athletes can be given banned drugs at competitions. The Ukrainian admitted that because of this she never drinks from the same bottle.
The athlete spoke about this in an interview for Masha Efrosinina.

According to the athlete, if she loses sight of the bottle from which she previously drank water, she will no longer drink from it.

— Yes, we don’t drink at competitions or training camps. For example, in the sector, I always drink from a new bottle. If I didn't see where the bottle was, for example, I threw it, went somewhere to the coach, and then came back, then I won't drink from it, — Maguchikh said.
She explained that there were cases when athletes had banned substances added to their bottles or plates of food while no one was looking.
— There were cases when they added something, and you drink and don't even know where you got the substance from. And there were cases when they saw someone leave a plate and leave, and someone else pass by and added something. And then they talked, looked for it, … There are such people, — Yaroslava said.
In addition, Maguchikh is cautious about going to doctors, especially when it comes to anesthesia at dentists.
The athlete noted that such drugs contain many prohibited substances.
Maghuchikh was recently recognized as the best female athlete of the year in Europe. In 2024, the Ukrainian broke the world record in high jump, won Olympic gold, and became the champion of the Diamond League.
