“You can understand them”: an Israeli journalist explained the protests in the country

by alex

In Israel, hundreds of people protested, demanding an end to hostilities and the release of hostages. The trigger, in particular, was the mistaken murder of three hostages at the hands of IDF soldiers.

Editor-in-Chief of the “Details” portal Emil Shleimovich noted Channel 24 that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) did not hide this, although it would not have been difficult to do so. Families have the right to know what really happened to their loved ones.

“Not a single protocol, not a single instruction for IDF soldiers provides for a scenario according to which a hostage can simply roam the streets freely. Therefore, when they were seen, they were mistaken not just for terrorists, but for terrorists who could pose a danger,” – Shleimovich noted.

More about the protests

Several organizations take part in the actions, including the headquarters uniting the families of the abducted – there are more than 700 people there. People demand that military action be kept to a minimum so as not to endanger the lives of the hostages.

According to Shleimovich, members of the war cabinet are forced to meet with the families of the hostages, but this does not mean that their position is accepted.

You can understand them, but the operation continues,” the journalist stated.

Now they are considering the possibility of exchanging all 133 hostages for the possibility of Yahya Sinvara and some other high-ranking militants to escape Gaza. The IDF military operation continues and thereby pushes the militants towards this scenario.

IDF ground operation: latest news

  • Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar fled to Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip, where he is probably still located. To achieve this, the militant leader hid in a humanitarian convoy.
  • This and the liquidation of 35 Hamas commanders led to the massive surrender of militants in the north of the enclave. They handed over weapons, equipment and valuable information.
  • As you know, from November 24 to December 1, the truce between Israel and Hamas continued. Thanks to the temporary ceasefire, three groups of hostages were released.
