Yastremska reaches first WTA grass court final with win over Linette

Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremska reached the final of the WTA 250 grass tennis tournament in Nottingham.

In the semi-final match, she defeated Polish tennis player Magda Linett in two sets with a score of 6:4, 6:4.

The tennis players spent 1 hour and 42 minutes on the court, during which Dayana served five times and made one double fault. Magda had three aces and two double faults.

In the first set, the key was the fifth game on Linette's serve, in which Yastremska scored a break.

The second set began with a long rally, in which the Pole saved three break points, but Yastremska still managed to take it. With the Ukrainian leading 4:1, it started raining and the game was briefly suspended.

After the game resumed, the Polish tennis player managed to reduce the gap, but Yastremska was still able to secure victory in the match.

For Dayana, reaching the final of the WTA grass tournament was the first in her career and the seventh overall. She will compete for her fourth trophy against the winner of the match between American McCartney Kessler and Slovakian Rebecca Sramkova.

In the previous round, Yastremska beat Canadian Leyla Fernandez, who was a US Open finalist in 2021, with a score of 6:3, 7:6 (8:6).
