Yakovenko called the benefits of adopting a law for “foreign agents” in Georgia for Putin

by alex

While the whole world is watching how the fate of Georgia is being decided. Based on the results of the adoption of the law, it will be clear which side the country will take.

Russian opposition journalist Igor Yakovenko told Channel 24 about this. According to him, Georgia still will not replace Ukraine for Russia.

Purpose of the law

Igor Yakovenko explained that on the one hand, everything is transparent in the situation with Georgia, but on the other hand, there are certain uncertainties.

“Today, if we talk about the Georgian authorities, they are divided,” he stressed.

According to him, Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili said that she is on the side of the protesters, which is a very important sign.

The Georgian parliament has literally become a pocket for former Prime Minister Bidzin Ivanishvili, who is a henchman of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The goal is also more or less clear. The task is to stop Georgia's movement towards Europe, NATO, the European world, because it is absolutely clear that if this law is adopted, then there will be no European integration for Georgia. – focused the attention of the oppositionist.

According to him, if the law is still adopted, then Putin, through Ivanishvili, will be able to stop Georgia's movement towards Europe. However, the logic of parliamentarians remains somewhat incomprehensible.

Exposure of Putin's henchmen

Igor Yakovenko said that it would be interesting to listen to Georgian experts in order to understand how much they are on the Kremlin's diet.

Now there is an autopsy of this entire Kremlin agency. On the one hand, Vladimir Pozner finally revealed himself in the distant United States,” he noted.

According to him, at first he “walked between the lines,” and now he openly supports the Kremlin.

“I think that in Solovyov’s studio, Pozner would have deserved applause if he had also said,” Yakovenko is convinced.

According to the oppositionist, the adoption of the law in Georgia is an obvious evidence of the disclosure of Putin's agents.

“The law is meaningless in view of the fact that the transparency of where people get their money from already quite exists. And what is it? Make a Russian version, when there will be a stigma of a foreign agent, an enemy of the people, will it crowd people?” he added.

Yakovenko noted that this is the mystery. It is likely that money can influence the situation.

Now, in any case, the fate of Georgia is being decided: where this country will move on – either with Russia into historical non-existence, or into normal life and European civilization, – he noted.

If the law is still passed, it will mean that Georgia will be in the Russian swamp.

Georgia will not replace Ukraine for Putin

Igor Yakovenko focused on the fact that Georgia is not the prize that will satisfy Putin.

Ukraine is important for Putin. Ukraine is the most important thing. Georgia, of course, will not replace Ukraine in any way, and Kazakhstan will not replace Ukraine, he is convinced.

The oppositionist added that without Ukraine, Russia would not be able to maintain the status of an empire.

“Georgia is what is called, it was not possible to redeem horses in champagne, so we pour beer,” he joked.

In his opinion, Putin will try to keep at least something, for example, Armenia.

Again, seizing Georgia in terms of simply joining Russia is unlikely and unnecessary. Already everything that can be bitten off has already been bitten off, he is convinced.

According to him, the theoretically possible next step is the annexation of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, but it is completely incomprehensible why Putin needs this.

However, the most important thing is to keep Georgia out of the European Union.

“If this law is adopted, then that's it, the trajectory of movement will be as far away as that of Uzbekistan or Tajikistan,” Yakovenko emphasized.

Therefore, the task of Putin and Ivanishvili is to stop this movement.

What is known about the protests in Georgia: in brief

  • The Georgian Parliament approved in the first reading the draft law “On Transparency of Foreign Influence”, which repeats the Russian legislation on “foreign agents”.
  • On February 26, two bills with the conditional title “On Foreign Agents” were submitted to the Georgian parliament. Already on March 2, parliamentary committees – on foreign relations and defense and security – approved the bills in the first reading.
  • This caused indignation among the Georgians, who went out to mass protests. They started on the evening of March 7th.
  • Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili supported the protesters. According to her, the bill was written under the dictation of Moscow. She will definitely veto it.
