German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius complained that Berlin is being pushed with the decision to transfer Taurus long-range missiles to Ukraine.

He said this during an event at the Federal Academy of Security Policy.

Pistorius noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces now most need air defense systems and 155 mm ammunition. According to him, Germany wants to speed up the processes of production of equipment and its repair.

According to the head of the Ministry of Defense, the transfer of Taurus to Ukraine is not a priority right now, and such a decision has not yet been made. Pistorius added that he had been asked dozens of times about these missiles in recent weeks.

He also called the “wrong tone” calls from the Ukrainian authorities to hand over the Taurus as quickly as possible.

— Statements by the Ukrainian side will not affect Berlin's decision. During the transfer of weapons, partners must take into account not only the interests of Ukraine, but also, first of all, their own, — Pistorius emphasized, reacting, in particular, to the words of Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba.

Earlier, Kuleba, at a joint press conference with German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock, commenting on the provision of Taurus missiles to Ukraine, said: & #8220;You'll do it anyway, it's only a matter of time, and I don't understand why we're wasting time“.
